An artist known for creating Dharma paintings in a modern and stylized manner is Badboss. Beyond his talent as an artist, Badboss has a diverse background, serving as a music director, EDM artist, and pop art creator. Primarily recognized for his work as a music director in dramas, he has also made significant contributions as an EDM artist, composing OSTs for popular shows like 'Homemade Love Story', 'Rude Miss Young-ae', and 'Cheongdam-dong Scandal'.

However, the cancellations of performances due to the repercussions of COVID-19 and the significant blow to his company, Badboss found himself with some spare time in his daily life. Growing up in a devout Buddhist family, he learned the Dharma Painting and the Sagunja from elementary school and lived at a temple until he was nineteen. He attracted young collectors with his unprecedented, colorful Bodhidharma paintings. The painting is made by collaging watercolors with leather from luxury brands or wrapping cloth for gift wrapping, and depicts the figure of a monk who blocks worldly greed with a halo filled with luxury brand logos.

He said, “Those who have only encountered the majestic Dharma paintings drawn in rough ink may think that the Dharma paintings I drew are too light. When I was little, I have always been close to my uncle, who was drawing Bodhidharma, and he is always the subject of his drawings, so the monk who is very familiar to me is Bodhidharma. “Because this is a monk I have known for so long, I wanted to express it in a more comfortable and friendly way.” said.

For the MZ generation, his paintings of Dharma are interesting and arouse the desire to own them. Artist Badboss plans to focus on exhibitions overseas, including in Japan and Europe, to promote Korean Buddhism to the world. The artist's move to expand the scope of Buddhist art by incorporating pop art into Dharma painting is attracting attention.

그러나 코로나19의 여파로 공연이 취소되고 회사에도 어려움이 찾아오면서, 그는 일상에서 여유를 찾게 되었습니다. 이 시기 동안 이웃과의 관계, 사랑하는 사람을 잃는 상실감을 겪으며 그동안 꿈꾸었던 미술 활동에 몰두하기 시작했습니다. 배드보스는 미술을 통해 자신을 돌아보는 시간이 되었다고 말합니다. 이 과정에서 그는 전통적인 달마도를 MZ 세대의 감각에 맞게 재해석하여 새로운 창작물을 탄생시켰습니다.
