2024, April.3rd - 4월 3일부터 13일까지 예술의전당 한가람 미술관에서 에코락 갤러리가 주최하는 '제5회 아트락페스티벌'이 문을 열었습니다. 이번 아트락페스티벌은 대한민국의 신진 작가들을 소개하고, 작가와 컬렉터 사이의 거리를 좁히는 데 주안점을 두고 있습니다. 전시는 국내 청년 작가 90명의 작품 900여 점이라는 풍성한 내용을 실거래가 데이터를 기반으로 엄선하여 선보였습다.

주목 할 만한 작가들의 작품들을 살펴보겠습니다.

천만관객의 영화 기생충 속 봉준호 감독이 선택한 아티스트인 지비지(ZiBEZI) 작가의 작품인 “Hug (Mixed media on canvas, 2023)” 입니다. 인기가 많은 작가인 만큼 이미 판매가 완료 되었습니다. 지비지(ZiBEZI) 작가는 비트박스로 유명한 아티스트로 알려져 있으며, 정재훈 또는 후니훈이라는 예명도 같이 사용합니다. 그는 음악에서의 활동을 휴식하면서 종이와 마커로 미술을 시작했는데, 이를 통해 자유롭고 치유되는 경험을 하게 되었다고 말 합니다. 그의 작품은 자유로운 화풍과 희로애락을 담아 희망의 메시지를 전달합니다.

김보미 작가의 작품 입니다. 김보미 작가는 그녀가 작업하는 창작물은 사람, 사회, 세상에 대한 인식과 경험을 담아내며, 각자의 감정과 고민을 표현하는 과정을 중시한다고 말했습니다. 갈등과 현대인의 고통, 번민을 해석 위트로 이야기하며, 다양한 주제와 소재를 다루며 표현합니다.

모스플라이 작가의 작품도 눈길을 끕니다. 굵은 선과 알록달록 한 색채, 단순하면서도 복잡한, 아이 같은 순수한 그림 속에서도 메세지를 담고 있는 그의 작품에서 그의 성격이 보이는 듯 합니다.

작가는 그림을 그릴 때 고민보다는 그동안의 낙서를 살펴보고, 그것들을 모티브로 삼아 작업한다고 합니다. 낙서는 의식과 무의식 사이의 것들을 담은 것으로 생각하며, 이를 발견하고 다듬는 것을 즐기며 특정 캐릭터나 이야기를 기획하지 않았지만, 그려지는 인물들에 애착을 느끼고 이를 통해 자신을 투영해서 그려냅니다. 그로 인해 그의 작품 속에는 그의 추억과 성격이 담겨져 나옵니다.

다른 작가들이 따라 할 수 없는 독특한 붓질로 작품을 그려내는 권마태 작가의 작품도 볼 수 있습니다. 그는 삶의 구조와 의미를 반영하기 위해 오랜 시간을 고민하고 실험한 끝에 현재의 작업 프로세스를 개발했습니다. 이 프로세스는 과거의 행위가 미래의 행위에 영향을 미치고, 미래의 행위가 과거의 행위를 변형시킬 수 있다는 개념을 중심으로 만들어졌습니다. 작가는 이 방법론을 '시공간의 규칙에 순응하지 않는 붓질과 채색의 복합적 레이어'로 정의합니다. 형상을 벗어나지 않으면서도 더욱 멋지게 표현하려는 목적을 갖고 있으며, 붓질과 색은 때로는 장면을 관통하고 때로는 장면에 종속되어, 삶이 단일한 규칙에 구속되지 않음을 나타냅니다.

“Shining New Artists: The 5th Art Rock Festival Seoul”

The 5th Art Rock Festival, hosted by Eco Rock Gallery is holding an exhibition at Hangaram Art Museum in the Seoul Arts Center from April 3 to 13. This Art Rock Festival focuses on introducing new artists in Korea and narrowing the distance between artists and collectors. The exhibition presented a rich selection of approximately 900 works by 90 young domestic artists, carefully selected based on actual transaction price data.

Let’s take a look at the works of notable artists.

“Hug Mixed media on canvas, 2023” is a work by ZiBEZI, the artist selected by director Bong Joon-ho in the movie “Parasite”, which attracted 10 million viewers. As it is a very popular artist, sales have already been completed. ZiBEZI is known as an artist famous for beatboxing, and also goes by the stage name Jeong Jae-hoon or Huni-hoon. He took up art with paper and marker during a break from his music, which he says found him a liberating and healing experience. His work conveys a message of hope through his free-flowing painting style and expressions of joy and sorrow.

This work is by artist Kim Bomi. She said that her creations capture perceptions and experiences of people, society, and the world, and that she values the process of expressing each person's emotions and concerns. It talks about conflict, the pain and agony of modern people with interpretive wit and deals with and expresses a variety of topics and materials.

Artist Mothfly's work also attracts attention. His personality seems to be visible in his works, which contain messages even in the thick lines and colorful colors, simple yet complex, and childlike innocent paintings.

When drawing a picture, the artist says that rather than worrying about it, he looks at his past doodles and uses them as a motif when working. I think of doodles as containing things between the conscious and unconscious, and I enjoy discovering and refining them. Although I don't plan a specific character or story, I feel attached to the people I draw and project myself into them. As a result, his memories and personality come out in his works.

You can also see the work of artist Kwon Matae, who creates works with unique brushstrokes that other artists cannot imitate. He developed his current work process after a long period of thinking and experimenting to reflect the structure and meaning of life. This process is built around the concept that past actions influence future actions, and that future actions can transform past actions. The artist defines this methodology as ‘complex layers of brushwork and coloring that do not conform to the rules of time and space.’ The goal is to express the shape more beautifully without deviating from it, and the brush strokes and colors sometimes penetrate the scene and sometimes are subordinate to it, showing that life is not bound by a single rule.

The Hangaram Art Museum currently exhibits the works of these great new artists.
