In a groundbreaking moment at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards, K-pop sensation NewJeans secured the coveted Group of the Year title, marking the first time a K-pop act has claimed the honor. The five members, adorned in school uniform-themed costumes, accepted the trophy on Wednesday in Los Angeles following their performances of "Super Shy" and "ETA" on stage.
During the acceptance speech, Hanni expressed gratitude, stating, "Participating in the awards alone is so surreal, and it's hard to believe we're in the same room as you all." She went on to thank fellow artists for their inspiring music, acknowledging their influence on NewJeans' growth and passion for music.
Danielle confirmed the group's imminent return with a new album, substantiating previous speculations. Notably, NewJeans achieved remarkable success last year, with five songs securing positions on Billboard's Hot 100 and a chart-topping position on the Billboard 200 within just one year since their debut.
