The 2017 hit single "Spring Day" by K-pop sensation BTS has attained platinum certification in Japan, according to the group's agency's announcement on Thursday.
The love song earned recognition in the streaming category from the Recording Industry Association of Japan for accumulating over 100 million streams as of February, as confirmed by BigHit Music.
Certifications by the association are awarded monthly based on the cumulative number of streams of a song, with distinctions including gold (over 50 million streams), platinum (over 100 million streams), and diamond (over 500 million streams).
Originally released in 2017 as the lead track from "Wings You Never Walk Alone," the repackaged version of BTS's second full-length album, "Spring Day" is characterized by its alternative hip-hop style blending Brit-rock and electronic elements. The song features a lyrical and melancholic chorus.
