The Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong (KCCHK) will present a special K-Food Masterclass on Friday, October 10, 2025, as part of the Festive Korea 2025 celebration. The hands-on culinary workshop will be led by Chef-owner Jiyoung Kim from GYUBAN, a Korean dining lounge, who will guide participants through the preparation of two traditional royal court dishes from the Joseon Dynasty.

The masterclass will focus on two historically significant Korean delicacies that were once served exclusively at royal banquets and formal court gatherings. Participants will learn to prepare Noeo Mandu, an elegant variation of dumplings featuring sea bass that was traditionally served at royal banquets during the Joseon Dynasty. This sophisticated dish involves using thinly sliced fish as dumpling wrappers instead of conventional dough, showcasing the refined culinary techniques of Korean royal cuisine.

The second dish featured in the workshop is Gotgam-ssam, traditional dried-persimmon wraps that served as a formal dessert in the royal court and at ceremonial tables. This delicate sweet treat is created by carefully splitting dried persimmons and wrapping them around various nuts, demonstrating the artistry and attention to detail characteristic of Korean palace cuisine.

The culinary workshop is scheduled to take place from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the K-Food Classroom located on the 6th floor of the Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong. Participation in this cultural event is free of charge, making it accessible to anyone interested in learning about traditional Korean cooking techniques and royal culinary heritage.

Due to the intimate nature of the hands-on cooking experience and limited classroom space, only 16 participants will be selected through a random draw process. Interested individuals must submit their applications through the provided Google form at https://forms.gle/YGRCEY6uEJqtErGt9 by the deadline of October 1, 2025. Selected participants will receive confirmation messages by October 2, and those who do not receive confirmation should understand they were not chosen in the random selection.

For additional information about the K-Food Masterclass or other inquiries related to the event, interested parties can contact the Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong at kfoodkcchk.kr.
