Park Jin-young, the renowned singer and producer, commonly known as JYP, is set to create a fresh female musical ensemble through KBS's upcoming reality music program, "Golden Girls."
Scheduled to begin airing on October 27, the show assembles a quartet of esteemed vocalists: Insooni, Park Mi-kyung, Shin Hyo-bum, and Lee Eun-mi, whose combined music careers span an impressive 151 years. Together, they will form a new collaborative team.
JYP has collaborated with producer Yang Hyuk, known for his work on "The Return of Superman," and writer Choi Moon-kyung, who has previously been involved with the music survival show "K-pop Star," to bring these distinguished vocalists together to forge a cohesive musical group.
In his capacity as the CEO of JYP Entertainment, responsible for the inception of iconic K-pop groups such as Wonder Girls, 2PM, Twice, and Stray Kids, JYP disclosed that he initiated the concept and presented the project to KBS.
In a written interview, JYP explained, "I wasn't invited to participate in the show. In fact, I was the one who initiated contact with the broadcaster regarding the project."

He added, "Because I was the one who proposed the show to the station, I was eager to create something remarkable. To achieve that, my goal was not just to unite these four individuals, Insooni, Park, Shin, and Lee, to perform what they excel at individually, but to truly harmonize their talents and witness an astonishing transformation."
JYP emphasized his shared musical tastes with the four vocalists and his enthusiasm for forging something new together. "The four of them are truly exceptional singers who can also adapt to my production style. We share the same musical preferences," he stated.
He continued, "Their vocal qualities inspire me to create something unique with their voices. While there are many gifted singers, not all of them align with my musical style and taste. With these artists, I see immense potential and believe we can produce something exceptional."
JYP introduced each singer's distinct strengths that would contribute to the new group. He commended Insooni's remarkable flexibility and mental resilience. Park, he noted, brings high-pitched vocals and dance expertise to the group, particularly in the style of music they aim to produce. Shin's vocal talent and emotive delivery, honed through formal opera training, make her a valuable asset. Lee's charm, JYP noted, lies in her spontaneity and raw, impulsive expression.
JYP envisions "Golden Girls" not only as a tribute to the trailblazing artists who shaped the modern K-pop landscape but also as an opportunity to infuse greater diversity into the music industry.
"I hope this provides a platform to recognize the exceptional artists who paved the way for today's K-pop and understand the genre's evolution. I also hope to witness increased diversity within the music industry," he expressed.
