Suseong Artpia in Daegu presents a new exhibition featuring Won Sun Geum and Seo Hyun Gyu, both selected for the A-ARTIST program, which supports emerging regional artists. The exhibition runs from February 12 to 28, showcasing thought-provoking works that reflect on contemporary consumerism and artificial life.
Won Sun Geum presents works under the theme of Festival, transforming disposable consumer goods into artistic objects. Through this approach, she critically examines modern consumer culture and the environmental consequences of mass consumption. Her work has been praised for its ability to merge sharp social commentary with striking visual aesthetics, prompting viewers to reconsider the role of ephemeral objects in art and daily life.
Seo Hyun Gyu, meanwhile, explores the concept of Artificial Life through installation works that combine iron and stainless steel mirrors. His reinterpretations of trees, integrated with LCD video displays and projection mapping, depict the vitality of artificial life forms. By merging technology with industrial materials, his work raises questions about the evolving relationship between nature and artificial intelligence.
