Stray Kids, the global powerhouse redefining K-pop, has officially entered the countdown for their much-anticipated comeback. On November 20, the group unveiled group and unit teasers for their upcoming album, SKZHOP HIPTAPE: 合 (HOP), through their official website, sparking excitement among fans worldwide.

The concept of HOP offers a modern reinterpretation of Korea’s traditional Nam-Sadang-Pae (a historical performance troupe). Blending the elegance of Hanok-inspired aesthetics with bold, trendy elements, the teasers showcased the members in striking outfits paired with accessories like lip piercings and chunky jewelry, creating a captivating contrast between tradition and contemporary hip-hop culture.

The visuals also highlighted the group’s confident demeanor and intense charisma. With each member exuding a commanding presence, the teasers have amplified anticipation for the album's release, showcasing a balance of sophistication and street-smart flair.

The HIPTAPE format represents an innovative approach to music production. The debut project, HOP, merges the Korean word for "unity" (合) with the English term "hip," encapsulating Stray Kids' vision of creating harmony through experimental hip-hop sounds. The album introduces a distinct genre unique to Stray Kids, marking a bold step in their musical evolution.

Comprising 12 tracks, HOP is led by the title track Walkin’ On Water, a genre-defying anthem produced by the group’s creative subunit, 3RACHA. All eight members contributed to the album, reflecting their hands-on approach to artistry. Notable tracks include U, supported by Epik High’s Tablo, and dynamic additions like Bounce Back and a hip-hop remix of Walkin’ On Water.

Fans will also be treated to official releases of solo tracks previously performed during the group’s world tour. Songs like Bang Chan’s Railway, Felix’s Unfair, and I.N’s HALLUCINATION will be featured alongside standout pieces such as So Good by Hyunjin and Hold My Hand by Han, offering listeners an intimate glimpse into each member’s unique artistic expression.

Stray Kids' accomplishments this year further underscore their global impact. From nominations at the iHeartRadio Music Awards to earning a spot at the 67th Grammy Awards in February 2024, the group continues to break barriers. Their song Slash, featured on the soundtrack for the film Deadpool & Wolverine, earned a Grammy nod for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, placing them in the global spotlight.

The album, set to release on December 13 at 2 PM KST (midnight EST), is expected to showcase Stray Kids’ innovative approach to music and solidify their position as trailblazers in the global music scene.
