Kelly Henkels, a talented artist from Worthington, will be featured as the spotlight artist at the SMAC Gallery located at 509 W. Main St. in Marshall. Her upcoming exhibition, titled "Scattered Presence," promises to showcase her diverse artistic talents and creative vision to the local community.
The exhibition will officially open on November 6 with a special Open House and Artist Reception scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. at the gallery. This opening event will provide the public with an opportunity to meet Henkels personally and experience her artwork firsthand. The exhibition will remain on display through December 19, giving art enthusiasts an extended period to visit and appreciate her work.
Visitors can view the "Scattered Presence" exhibition during regular gallery hours, which are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. During the opening reception, attendees of all ages are welcome to not only view Henkels' artwork but also participate in hands-on creative activities, making it a family-friendly cultural event.
A special virtual artist talk with Henkels is planned for December 4 at 5:30 p.m. via Zoom, allowing those who cannot attend in person to engage with the artist and learn more about her work. Interested participants can obtain the Zoom link by emailing infoswmnarts.org.
Henkels brings a wealth of artistic experience to this exhibition, having been creating art for as long as she can remember. Her artistic repertoire spans multiple mediums, including printmaking, painting, and sewing, demonstrating her versatility and creative range. She holds an Art Education degree and actively teaches art classes, sharing her knowledge and passion with students in the community.
The accomplished artist has participated in numerous art shows throughout her career, including organizing three solo exhibitions of her own work. This extensive exhibition history reflects her dedication to the arts and her commitment to sharing her creative vision with audiences.
