A striking new residential project has been completed in the picturesque settlement of Koritno, Slovenia, demonstrating innovative approaches to contemporary mountain architecture. The House Koritno, designed by Ljubljana-based firm Arhitekti Počivašek Petranovič, represents a thoughtful integration of modern design principles with the dramatic Alpine landscape that defines this region southeast of the famous Lake Bled.
The 190-square-meter house, completed in 2025, sits strategically on the edge of a fluvial-glacial terrace formed by the Sava Dolinka riverbed. This unique positioning allows the residence to take full advantage of its extraordinary natural setting, offering residents unobstructed views of the majestic Alps and Karavanke mountain ranges to the north while maintaining southern exposure for optimal sunlight throughout the day. The southern orientation also provides sweeping views into the surrounding greenery, creating a strong connection between the interior spaces and the lush natural environment.
The architectural team, led by principals Davorin Počivašek and Urban Petranovič, collaborated with project architects Jernej Borko, Petra Hribar Markelj, and Monika Kobal to create a design that responds sensitively to both the topographical challenges and opportunities presented by the site. The house's form and material palette reflect a contemporary interpretation of regional building traditions while incorporating modern sustainable design strategies appropriate for the Alpine climate.
