The Glaz International Photography and Image Biennial is set to return for its highly anticipated second edition, running from October 17, 2025, through January 4, 2026. This year's festival will explore the compelling theme of "Acts of Love and Rebellion," bringing together diverse perspectives on human emotion and social change through the lens of contemporary photography.
The ambitious festival will showcase an impressive scale of artistic programming, featuring 33 distinct exhibitions spread across 32 venues throughout the region. A total of 63 artists will participate in this comprehensive celebration of photographic art, representing both established international figures and emerging talents in the field. The extensive reach of the festival demonstrates its commitment to making photography accessible to diverse audiences across multiple locations.
According to Jean-Christophe Godet, the festival's Artistic Director, GLAZ remains dedicated to its core mission of supporting photography as a vital form of artistic expression and creative exploration. "We champion and promote personal and engaged artistic photography, combining exhibitions by internationally renowned and emerging artists, that questions, deciphers, and analyzes the world and human behavior," Godet explained in his statement about the festival's vision.
The festival's programming philosophy emphasizes the power of photography to engage viewers on both intellectual and emotional levels. Godet expressed his hopes that the exhibitions will succeed in captivating audiences through their accessibility while simultaneously evoking deep emotions and encouraging thoughtful reflection about contemporary issues and human experiences.
The International Photography Encounters will officially launch on November 17, 2025, and continue through January 4, 2026, with events taking place throughout Rennes and the broader Brittany region of France.
