A new residential development designed specifically for senior citizens has been completed in Pregny-Chambésy, Switzerland, offering approximately fifteen rental apartments tailored for elderly residents. The project, known as the Christinger Residence, represents a thoughtful approach to housing design for populations experiencing declining autonomy.

The development originated from a generous bequest by Mrs. Christinger, who donated a 1,933 square meter plot of land along with a villa that had been constructed in the 1940s to the local municipality. Her testament specifically dedicated the property for the benefit of the municipality's senior citizens, prompting local officials to carefully consider what type of housing would best serve this demographic.

Designed by acau architecture, the project covers a total area of 1,895 square meters and was completed in 2025. The architectural team was led by Bruno Känel and Liliana Teixeira, who worked to create a living environment that balances independence with necessary support systems for elderly residents.

The building incorporates sustainable design principles and modern construction techniques, utilizing materials including wood, concrete, and brick. The development team included various specialists, from civil engineers to landscape architects, ensuring a comprehensive approach to creating a suitable living environment for seniors.

The Christinger Residence stands as an example of how thoughtful urban planning and architectural design can address the growing need for appropriate housing solutions for aging populations in Swiss communities.
