Jin, a member of the globally renowned K-pop group BTS, has completed his mandatory military service, his agency Hybe confirmed on Wednesday. The singer was discharged after one year and six months of service with the South Korean Army, during which he served as an instructor in the recruit training battalion of the 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province.
Jin's discharge was marked by a visit from fellow BTS members, excluding Suga, who were present to celebrate his return to civilian life. Among those in attendance were RM, J-Hope, V, Jungkook, and Jimin. RM, who is currently serving in the military band, performed the group’s hit song "Dynamite" on the saxophone at the site.
Jin left his battalion at approximately 8:50 a.m., receiving applause from his fellow soldiers. Before departing, he took the time to embrace and say goodbye to his junior soldiers.

Jin is the first BTS member to complete his mandatory military service. He enlisted in December 2022. J-Hope, the second BTS member to enlist, is scheduled for discharge in October. The remaining members, including Suga, RM, V, Jungkook, and Jimin, are expected to complete their service by June 2025.
Jin is set to reunite with BTS fans at the annual fan-meeting event "2024 Festa," which will be held at Jamsil Arena in Songpa-gu, Seoul, on Thursday. During the event, he will participate in a "Hug Event," where he will embrace 1,000 fans, followed by interactive sessions.
Big Hit Music, BTS's management company, extended its thanks to fans for their support and enthusiasm. “We sincerely ask for your warm welcome and support for Jin. We are always grateful for the unwavering love and support from fans. We will continue to do our best to support our artists,” the agency stated on Wednesday.
