Hui, originally debuting as part of the 10-member boy band Pentagon in 2016 under Cube Entertainment, has been an integral part of the group known for hits like "Shine" (2018), "Naughty boy" (2018), and "Feelin' Like" (2022). Following the completion of his mandatory military service in November 2022, Hui participated in Mnet's boy band audition program "Boys Planet" under his real name, Lee Hoe-taek. Pentagon released the digital single "With Universe" on October 10.
October saw the departure of six Pentagon members—Yeo One, Yanan, Yuto, Kino, Wooseok, and Hongseok—from Cube Entertainment, leaving only Hui, Jinho, and Shinwon associated with the agency. Notably, former member E’Dawn, now known as Dawn, had left the band and agency in September 2018.
Despite ongoing speculations, Cube Entertainment has not officially addressed rumors circulating about the potential pause or disbandment of Pentagon's group activities.
