2024,July 4th - 눈사람이 녹아내리고, 크리스마스 트리 위에는 눈이 내립니다. 물고기 모양의 풍선이 공중에 떠다니고, 창문을 통해 들어오는 주황빛은 전시장을 몽환적으로 만듭니다. 이곳은 서울 이태원의 리움미술관에서 열리고 있는 '필립 파레노: 보이스(Voices)' 전시입니다.

한국의 여배우 배두나의 목소리도 인공지능을 통해 새로운 방식으로 전시됩니다. 이 작품은 인공지능을 사용해 외부 환경 데이터를 사운드로 변환하고, 이 사운드와 목소리가 상호작용하여 독특한 청각적 풍경을 연출합니다. 배두나의 목소리는 일본 만화 캐릭터 '안리'를 통해 들리지만, 실제로 그녀가 이 대사를 읽은 적은 없습니다. 이는 AI가 그녀의 음성을 학습해 만들어낸 결과물입니다.
파레노는 배두나의 감성적인 목소리에 매료되어 그녀를 캐스팅했고, 그녀는 재능기부로 참여했습니다. 전시 제목인 '보이스(목소리)'가 핵심 요소인 만큼, 파레노는 적합한 목소리를 찾기 위해 많은 노력을 기울였습니다.

Snowmen are melting, and snow falls on a Christmas tree. Fish-shaped balloons float in the air, and the orange light streaming through the windows makes the exhibition hall dreamlike. This is the "Philippe Parreno: Voices" exhibition held at the Leeum Museum in Itaewon, Seoul.
This exhibition has received a warm response since Parreno's first solo exhibition in Korea in 2017. It features Parreno's iconic works as well as various media and formats. Every morning at the Leeum Museum, a lot of effort is put into creating six snowmen using a shaved ice machine. Helium gas is injected into fish-shaped balloons, and speakers expressing the sound of water droplets and an automatic piano playing music according to algorithms vary daily.
In particular, the voice of Korean actress Bae Doona is reborn in a new way through artificial intelligence in Philippe Parreno's work "Voices." This piece uses AI to convert external environmental data into sound, creating a unique auditory landscape through the interaction of this sound and voice. Bae Doona's voice is heard through the Japanese manga character 'Anri,' but she never actually read these lines. This is the result of AI learning her voice.
Parreno was captivated by Bae Doona's emotional voice and cast her, and she participated as a talent donation. Given that the exhibition title "Voices" is a key element, Parreno put a lot of effort into finding the right voice.
The exhibition space at the Leeum Museum is filled with Parreno's works, each connected to create a single narrative. Visitors can enjoy the exhibition not just by viewing the works but by directly participating and experiencing them.
