Mamamoo’s Moonbyul has donated emergency medical expenses for children with disabilities who urgently need treatment and surgery. The Miral Welfare Foundation announced on Monday that Moonbyul’s sponsorship was triggered by her participation as a narrator in MBC’s ‘Miracle of Spring’ special broadcast, which aired on the Day of the Disabled on April 20th.

During the recording of her narration, Moonbyul was reportedly moved by the case of disabled children who require continuous treatment and surgery but are unable to receive it due to financial difficulties. She decided to sponsor emergency medical expenses for these children in need.

The Miral Welfare Foundation shared the story of Da-eun, a 7-year-old girl with black spots over half of her body due to congenital giant nevus. Her birthmark is highly likely to develop into malignant melanoma, and she will need surgery to remove it nearly 20 times in the future. Another child, Jun-seo, suffers from an unknown skin disease that is peeling off all over his body and causing inflammation in his muscles and bones. He cannot walk due to bent legs, and his only family member, his grandfather, is unable to afford the treatment cost of several million won a month.

An official from the Miral Welfare Foundation expressed gratitude to Moonbyul for her generosity, saying, “I express my deep gratitude to Moonbyul of Mamamoo for sharing her precious heart for children with disabilities in urgent need of surgery. Disabled children in similar circumstances will be able to grow up healthy.”

Moonbyul stated, "I joined the sponsorship in the hope that the children will receive treatment without worrying about hospital bills and become healthy as soon as possible."
