Russian multimedia artist Ellen Sheidlin will present her solo exhibition “Unconditional” at Tang Contemporary Art Seoul from March 22 to May 3, 2025. The exhibition delves into the theme of unconditional emotions, love, and human connections, offering a visually immersive journey through her signature surrealist approach.

Sheidlin, who has amassed over 4.1 million followers on Instagram, initially gained recognition for her surreal photography before expanding her artistic practice into painting, sculpture, and digital art. Her works merge the physical and digital realms, blurring the lines between dreams and reality, a style she terms "Survirtualism."

This exhibition features 20 new works that highlight Sheidlin’s spontaneous and instinctive exploration of emotions. Her paintings’ fluid shapes and vibrant color palettes create a dynamic interplay between reality and the subconscious, offering viewers an opportunity to reflect on emotions often overlooked in daily life.

The exhibition opens with a special reception on March 22 at 4 PM, where the artist will be present to engage with visitors. Additionally, an artist talk on April 16 at 5:30 PM will provide deeper insight into her creative philosophy.

Sheidlin’s artistic approach prioritizes slow, deliberate craftsmanship over digital perfection, emphasizing the transient and evolving nature of emotions. Through traditional oil painting techniques, her works capture fleeting moments, prompting viewers to question what is truly unconditional in human experience.

The artist’s exploration of identity and perception is a recurring theme, with many of her pieces featuring self-representations that navigate infinite dimensions of the human mind. Works such as "Unconditionally Yours" (60 x 60 cm, 2025), "Fall Asleep Inside You" (110 x 90 cm, 2025), and "Blooming Heart" (200 x 150 cm, 2025) showcase her ability to transform personal emotions into universally relatable narratives.

Sheidlin’s reputation extends far beyond social media. She has exhibited in major cities such as St. Petersburg, Tokyo, Florence, London, Paris, and New York, with her debut solo show at Artmuse in St. Petersburg in 2014 attracting over 5,000 visitors on its opening day.

Additionally, she has collaborated with global brands including Nike, L’Oréal, Estée Lauder, Moncler, Bacardi, BMW, Instagram, Swatch, Schwarzkopf, Coca-Cola, and Pepsico, further establishing her as a versatile artist bridging fine art and commercial creativity.

Through "Unconditional," Sheidlin invites audiences to step away from the rigidity of daily routines and rediscover the raw and instinctive emotions that define human existence. The exhibition offers a rare opportunity to experience the work of one of today’s most innovative and boundary-pushing multimedia artists.
