Actor Go Youn Jung is set to take on the role of a first-year obstetrics and gynecology resident in tvN’s upcoming weekend drama ‘Resident Playbook’ (Korean title: 언젠가는 슬기로울 전공의생활). On March 19, the drama released its official poster and teaser, offering a glimpse into the unpredictable daily lives of OB-GYN residents at Yulje Medical Center.

The teaser video captures the chaotic yet immersive atmosphere of the OB-GYN department, featuring newly minted residents Oh Yi Young (played by Go Youn Jung), Pyo Nam Kyung (Shin Si A), Um Jae Il (Kang Yoo Seok), and Kim Sa Bi (Han Ye Ji).

The four young doctors find themselves in the middle of a delivery room emergency, struggling to manage a laboring mother while trying to maintain composure. Despite their lack of experience, they cling to a humble goal: “Even if we can’t do it perfectly, we just want to contribute.” With this mindset, they embark on their grueling residency, running through hospital corridors night and day.

The official poster further highlights their hectic reality, capturing the four residents racing down the hall. Papers fly around them, and a shoe comes off mid-run, yet their notebooks and smartphones remain firmly in hand—a testament to their determination.

The image strongly echoes the iconic poster of ‘Hospital Playlist’, where senior doctors strolled through the halls. However, unlike their calm and composed mentors, these young doctors are visibly overwhelmed and filled with urgency.

‘Resident Playbook’ will depict the emotional and challenging journey of first-year doctors, showing their growth as they encounter both their early careers and the newborn lives they help bring into the world. The drama creates a poignant parallel between social newcomers and life’s newcomers, blending medical realism with heartfelt storytelling.

Originally slated for release in May 2024, the drama’s broadcast was indefinitely postponed due to the nationwide medical resident strike. After nearly a year of delays, ‘Resident Playbook’ is finally set to premiere on April 12 at 9:10 PM (KST) on tvN.
