
Actress Park Jin Joo takes on an unconventional role as the first space exploration dog in the upcoming musical Laika, which will open on March 14 at Doosan Art Center’s YeonGang Hall. The production company, Library Theatre, unveiled the official character poster on February 19 via Instagram, drawing attention to Park’s striking transformation into the iconic Soviet space dog.
In the musical, Park Jin Joo portrays Laika, the first living creature to orbit Earth aboard the Soviet satellite Sputnik 2. Her role pays homage to the historical space mission while reimagining Laika's journey through a deeply emotional and creative lens. The character poster features Park in a detailed spacesuit, set against a starry cosmic backdrop, striking a determined pose that blends strength and charm.
Park Jin Joo’s involvement in Laika adds to her growing reputation as one of the most versatile and sought-after actors in the musical scene. Since her breakout performance in Red Book in 2023, she has captivated audiences with her dynamic stage presence, following it up with the 2024 production of Maybe Happy Ending.
