An attendee broke a porcelain artwork displayed at an exhibition and raised its pieces above his head.

The incident occurred during the private opening reception of an exhibition by Chinese contemporary artist Ai Weiwei in Italy.

The perpetrator, a 57-year-old Czech national, was immediately arrested on charges of damaging cultural property.

He was not a guest, and how he gained unauthorized access to the event remains unclear.

The artist responded calmly, stating that he hoped the man did not injure himself on the porcelain shards.

Meanwhile, the artist's work, which often critiques social issues of destruction and violence, has drawn further attention due to the incident.
