The exhibition “Watercolor: Painting with Water,” showcasing a wide range of watercolor works by Korea’s leading artists, is on view until September 7.

The exhibition, hosted at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Cheongju, features Korean artists' artistic worlds and philosophies as expressed through watercolor.

A total of 34 artists are participating, presenting works that challenge and break the traditional perceptions of watercolor as a medium.

Historically regarded as merely a preliminary stage or a sketch for oil painting, watercolor is redefined in this exhibition through bold reinterpretations by contemporary artists.

Visitors can explore the evolution of Korean watercolor, from early works blended with traditional ink painting to abstract experiments and modern pieces.
