An exhibition bringing together students from North Korean defector families and artists from South and North Korea will run at Topohaus Gallery in Seoul’s Insadong district from Sept. 2–8.
Titled “2026 Lotte Dream! South and North Korean Artists United Through Color,” the exhibition presents work produced through an art education program supported by the Lotte Scholarship Foundation.
Beginning in April, the foundation provided weekly mentoring and art materials to elementary, middle and high school students who had limited access to professional art education. The program covered basic drawing and more advanced individual projects.
Five artists—Oh Sung-chul, Shin Young-jin, Lee Tae-ryang, Cho Sang-young and Kim Min-seok—will participate alongside six students enrolled in the program.
The exhibition contains 18 works. Seven were completed by the students with guidance from the participating artists, while the remaining 11 are works by the professional participants.
The program was organised as part of the “Shin Kyuk-ho Lotte Dream! Support Project for North Korean Defectors.” It was designed to give students experience ranging from basic visual techniques to the development and public presentation of finished work.
The exhibition will be held in Topohaus Gallery’s third exhibition room and will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free.
