Cooperation between the K-pop and fashion industries is set to expand through the new agreement. The effectiveness of the planned production system and industrial collaboration is expected to become clearer as the partnership develops.
According to SayArt on July 23, HYBE signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Fashion Association to promote collaboration between the entertainment and fashion industries. The agreement is intended to expand businesses built around K-pop intellectual property (IP) and related industries by combining the expertise of both organizations.
Under the agreement, the two sides plan to work with domestic manufacturers to establish a production system for K-pop IP-based fashion products. The initiative aims to connect content development with Korea's manufacturing capabilities in product planning and production.
The partnership also includes broader cooperation between the content and manufacturing sectors. HYBE and the Korea Fashion Association said they will jointly pursue projects that combine K-pop content with Korea's manufacturing infrastructure to strengthen industrial competitiveness.
Yoo Dong-joo, APAC Representative of HYBE Music Group, said K-pop continues to create value beyond music by connecting with a wide range of industries. He added that the company plans to expand partnerships with domestic manufacturers and explore new business opportunities based on K-pop intellectual property.
Seong Rae-eun, Chair of the Korea Fashion Association, said K-pop has played a key role in introducing Korean culture to global audiences, while fashion enables consumers to experience that culture in everyday life. She said the association expects the agreement to contribute to the global competitiveness of Korean fashion and support the domestic manufacturing sector.
HYBE and the Korea Fashion Association plan to implement joint projects based on the agreement in phases. The long-term impact of the K-pop IP-based fashion collaboration model is expected to be evaluated as the initiatives progress.
