Lomography has officially announced the launch of its new Petzval lens series, specifically engineered for contemporary mirrorless camera systems. The innovative lens collection has been designed to be compatible with three major camera mount systems: Sony E-mount, Canon RF-mount, and Nikon Z-mount cameras, making it accessible to a wide range of photographers using modern mirrorless camera bodies. The new Petzval series will debut with three distinct focal length options, each offering different aperture capabilities to suit various photographic needs. The lineup includes a 35mm lens with an f/2 aperture, providing a wide-angle perspective ideal for landscape and street photography. The series also features a 55mm lens with an f/1.7 aperture, offering a standard field of view that closely matches human vision and is perfect for portrait work and general photography. Additionally, the collection includes an 80.5mm lens with an f/1.9 aperture, delivering a short telephoto perspective that excels in portrait photography and subject isolation. These Petzval lenses are expected to deliver the characteristic swirly bokeh and vintage aesthetic that the original 19th-century Petzval lens design is famous for, while incorporating modern optical engineering to work seamlessly with today's digital mirrorless camera systems. The announcement represents Lomography's continued commitment to bringing classic photographic aesthetics to contemporary photographers through innovative lens designs.
