A groundbreaking social housing development featuring 38 units has been completed on Josep Togores Street in Palma, Spain, designed by the renowned architectural firm Vivas Arquitectos. The project, spanning 2,840 square meters and completed in 2025, represents a significant contribution to affordable housing solutions in the Balearic Islands' capital city.
The development is strategically located in the northern part of Palma, within a heterogeneous urban area that has undergone multiple phases of development over the years. This location is characterized by its blend of low-density residential housing and remaining agricultural zones, creating a unique urban-rural interface that the architects have thoughtfully considered in their design approach.
Lead architects César Vivas Millaruelo and Cristian Vivas Millaruelo have drawn inspiration from traditional construction systems for their structural solution. Their innovative approach integrates load-bearing functions with habitability requirements, where the structure itself serves to define and house the living spaces.
