In commemorating their 30th anniversary, iconic 1990s hip-hop group DJ DOC has announced plans for a comeback album, marking their first release in 14 years. The group's agency, Funky Town, revealed that DJ DOC premiered a new track, titled "Cheers," at a year-end concert in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on December 30. The song, a fusion of hip-hop with "newtro" funk and trot influences, is set to be featured on their upcoming 30th-anniversary album.

While the group's last full-length album, "Pungryu," was released in 2010, uncertainty looms over the participation of all three original members in the latest project. At the December 30 performance, only leader Lee Ha-neul and Jeong Jae-yong took the stage, with vocalist Kim Chang-youl notably absent. Reports suggest a longstanding discord between Lee Ha-neul and Kim Chang-youl, exacerbated by accusations related to the sudden death of Lee's brother, Lee Hyun-bae, in 2021. Lee Ha-neul accused Kim of contributing to his brother's demise, citing financial disputes between Kim and Hyun-bae.
In a December 4 appearance on "Choi Mu-bae TV," Lee Ha-neul, who had not been in contact with Kim for approximately two years, expressed a desire to organize the trio's final concert as DJ DOC and reconnect with their fan base.
DJ DOC, a pioneering hip-hop trio, made their debut with "Sorrow of Superman" in November 1994, earning acclaim for their rebellious style and socially charged lyrics. Renowned for hits like "Summer Story," "Run To You," and "Dance with DOC," the group has played a significant role in shaping the music landscape, garnering admiration from audiences and pop culture critics alike.
