A remarkably complex 3D tank model featuring an astounding 2,441 individual parts has captured attention in the digital art community. The incredibly detailed vehicle was created by Atharwa Pankade using Blender software when he was just 14 years old, showcasing an impressive level of dedication and technical skill for such a young artist.
The ambitious project was originally conceived as a model suitable for 3D printing, which explains the extraordinary level of detail and complexity. Pankade worked on the tank model approximately two years ago, spending about a month on the project with dedicated 4-5 hour daily work sessions. Despite his young age at the time, he managed to craft every single component with meticulous attention to detail.
However, the project's incredible complexity ultimately became its downfall. "The insane complexity of making it suitable for 3D printing" prevented Pankade from completing the model, as he explained when sharing his work. The artist revealed that "not a single out of the 2,441 objects has a manifold surface," which created significant technical challenges for 3D printing preparation.
Reflecting on the experience, Pankade admits he wouldn't approach such a project with the same level of detail today, even as a personal endeavor. The scope and complexity of creating thousands of individual components proved to be overwhelming, despite his technical capabilities and determination.
