The beloved Photo Münsingen exhibition will hold its 25th and final event next year, marking the end of a quarter-century tradition that has drawn thousands of photography enthusiasts from Switzerland and beyond. The popular photography festival, which takes place annually on the Schlossgut estate grounds in Münsingen, will conclude its run in May 2026 due to insurmountable staffing and financial difficulties.
Organizers announced that despite intensive efforts, they have been unable to fill key vacancies in the leadership of the organizing committee and various departments. Additionally, the challenge of retaining existing sponsors and partners, as well as finding new ones, has become increasingly difficult, making it impossible to continue the exhibition beyond its milestone 25th year.
The final Photo Münsingen will take place from May 14-17, 2026, maintaining its traditional format and scope on the Schlossgut estate grounds. The program will feature numerous photography exhibitions from photo clubs and professional photographers from both Switzerland and international locations. The event will be complemented by photography workshops and audiovisual productions, with detailed program information to be announced at the beginning of the year.
Throughout its 24-year history, Photo Münsingen has attracted thousands of visitors annually, both from within Switzerland and from across national borders. The organizing committee expressed pride in the countless photography exhibitions and workshops that have been presented over the years, featuring work from both the photo club scene and renowned professional photographers. The exhibition has consistently been held during the Ascension Day weekend and has welcomed up to 5,000 visitors each year, maintaining free admission throughout its entire run.
As the exhibition prepares for its final chapter, the organizing committee has promised to make the 25th anniversary a memorable farewell with special attractions designed to create a spectacular closing celebration. The announcement represents the end of an era for Switzerland's photography community, as one of the country's most significant annual photography events prepares to close its doors after more than two decades of showcasing photographic artistry and fostering community among photography enthusiasts.
