Lomography has announced the launch of its newest color negative film, the LomoChrome Classicolor ISO 200, promising photographers true-to-life colors and the timeless charm of analog photography. The release comes just one day after Kodak officially unveiled its Kodacolor 100 and 200 color negative films, marking an exciting week for analog photography enthusiasts.
The LomoChrome Classicolor ISO 200 represents the latest addition to Lomography's expanding LomoChrome family of films. According to the company, analog photography "is, and will always remain, a human act, preserving fleeting moments in a way that can never be replicated." Lomography emphasizes that they are "all about keeping that magic alive, creative, and within reach."
This new film joins an impressive lineup of LomoChrome products that Lomography has released in recent years. The family includes LomoChrome Color 92 Sun-kissed ISO 400, which debuted last year, LomoChrome Color 92 from 2023, and both LomoChrome Turquoise and LomoChrome Purple from 2021. The collection also features LomoChrome Metropolis, which marked Lomography's first new color negative film in nearly half a decade when it arrived in 2019.
The handcrafted LomoChrome Classicolor ISO 200 features a distinctive color-layering process designed to deliver a unique palette that authentically captures everyday moments. Lomography promises the film will produce warm, gentle skin tones alongside vibrant reds and bright yellows. In contrast, greens and blues are described as more grounded and subdued. The company explains that together, these colors "bring simple, everyday sights into something a little cinematic."
Regarding exposure characteristics and tonality, Lomography describes its new film as having a gentle glow, with highlights that spill into a golden shimmer. The company promises that "every frame has a light, almost translucent feel," particularly when shooting in bright daylight conditions. However, the film's behavior changes under different lighting conditions, with the color palette shifting toward earthy tones and more muted colors when photographing on cloudy days or in darker environments.
Lomography characterizes the LomoChrome Classicolor ISO 200 as featuring a medium grain structure with rich detail reproduction. The company markets the film as highly versatile, suggesting it will be particularly well-suited for portraits, casual snapshots, and travel photography. With its "quietly vibrant palette," Lomography claims that "Classicolor turns everyday moments into something luminous."
The new LomoChrome Classicolor ISO 200 film is now available for pre-order through Lomography's online store, with shipping expected to begin in November. The film comes packaged in 36-exposure rolls, priced at $11.90 each. For processing convenience, the film can be developed using the standard C-41 chemical process and includes DX coding for automatic camera settings.
