A groundbreaking new collapsible water bottle called Elio has entered the market, featuring an innovative design that leans when standing upright and can be placed horizontally without spilling its contents. This pocket-sized container offers exceptional portability, transforming from a fully functional 750ml water bottle into a compact accessory that can fit in users' pockets or be tied around bags when folded.
Design team leader Max Gunawan has engineered Elio using premium food-grade silicone, creating an ultra-lightweight product that weighs approximately 160 grams – less than the weight of an apple. The silicone construction is encased within a protective lattice-structured aluminum frame designed to withstand harsh conditions including being stepped on, thrown into bags, dropped from significant heights, or subjected to other rough handling without tearing or permanent damage.
The bottle's construction emphasizes safety and environmental consciousness, featuring BPA-free and food-grade silicone that eliminates plastic contamination and unwanted odors. According to the design lead, every component of the Elio water bottle has been engineered to be 100 percent recyclable, addressing growing environmental concerns about disposable water containers.
Elio's modular design allows users to customize their bottle by mixing, matching, and swapping the body, cap, and handle components within seconds, offering transitions from monochromatic to vibrant color schemes across six available variations. The bottle doubles as a fashion accessory, featuring a silicone strap positioned just below the top cap that enables users to loop it onto belts or bags for convenient carrying.
The container's distinctive triangular shape with rounded edges serves both functional and aesthetic purposes, allowing it to function as a decorative desk object whether folded or unfolded. Practical features include one-handed cap operation for easy access while running or driving, and a wide opening designed to accommodate ice chunks. The bottle maintains dishwasher safety and fits standard cup holders despite its unique leaning stance.
The lattice frame structure provides crucial functionality by allowing users to grip the bottle securely without compressing the silicone and causing liquid spillage. This engineering solution addresses common problems associated with traditional collapsible bottles while maintaining the product's lightweight and portable characteristics.
The Elio campaign has officially launched, with the design team projecting initial shipments of this innovative portable water bottle to begin in January 2026. The product represents a significant advancement in collapsible bottle technology, combining practical hydration solutions with customizable style elements and environmental sustainability.
