LE BAL, ADAGP, and the French Ministry of Culture have jointly announced Constance Nouvel as the winner of the sixth LE BAL / ADAGP Young Artist Award. Nouvel was selected for her compelling project titled "Divine WordImages from Here and Beyond," which impressed the jury among 390 submitted applications.
As the award recipient, Nouvel will receive a substantial grant of 20,000 euros to complete her research and artistic work. This funding will enable her to fully develop her project, which explores the intersection of spirituality and visual imagery. The completed work will be showcased in a solo exhibition at LE BAL in 2027, accompanied by a comprehensive publication that will document her research and artistic process.
The selection process was highly competitive, with the jury recognizing five additional artists as favorites alongside the winner. These notable mentions include Zoé Bernardi, Nelson Bourrec Carter, Sido Lansari, Antoine Lecharny, and Livia Melzi, all of whom demonstrated exceptional artistic merit and innovative approaches in their submissions.
The LE BAL / ADAGP Young Artist Award has a distinguished history of supporting emerging talent in the visual arts. Previous winners of this prestigious award include Clément Cogitore, Yasmina Benabderrahmane, Éric Minh Cuong Castaing, Marine Peixoto, and Marie Quéau. Each of these artists has gone on to make significant contributions to contemporary art, demonstrating the award's success in identifying and nurturing promising talent.
The most recent previous winner, Marie Quéau, will present her project "Fury" at LE BAL from November 28, 2025, to February 8, 2026. This upcoming exhibition will provide audiences with an opportunity to experience the work of the fifth award recipient before Nouvel's exhibition debuts in 2027. The award continues to serve as a crucial platform for young artists to gain recognition and support for their innovative projects in the visual arts community.
