In an exciting development for K-pop enthusiasts, acclaimed Japanese duo Yoasobi is all set to grace the stage for their inaugural concert in Korea on December 16. The announcement was made by the concert's organizer, Livet, earlier this week.

Yoasobi's eagerly awaited performance in Korea will take place at Korea University's Hwajeong Gymnasium, located within the university's Seongbuk District campus in northern Seoul. This event is a significant highlight of the duo's inaugural Asian tour, promising an unforgettable experience for fans in attendance.

Tickets for the much-anticipated concert are slated to be available through Melon Ticket starting October 4.

The duo, comprised of the talented vocalist ikura and the accomplished producer Ayase, made their debut in Japan back in 2019. Their first track, "Into The Night" (2019), and their debut EP, "The Book" (2021), propelled them to stardom in Japan, but it was "Idol" that captivated audiences in Korea and garnered global acclaim.

"I have seen a lot of idol anime, so I thought it would be nice if our song could be the theme for an anime," Ayase mentioned, reflecting on the success of "Idol." The track, released on April 12 as the duo's 22nd digital single and the primary soundtrack for the Japanese anime "Oshi no Ko" (translated to "My Favorite Idol"), achieved astounding success, garnering over 100 million views on its music video within a month of release. Notably, "Idol" became the fastest J-pop song to reach this milestone since its release, a historic achievement in the genre. It also made history by topping YouTube Music Korea's music chart in July, marking the first time a J-pop song achieved such a feat.

Moreover, "Idol" and its accompanying challenges gained widespread traction on TikTok in Japan and Korea, captivating audiences and inspiring numerous K-pop artists to partake in the "My Favorite Idol challenge" on the platform, further amplifying the track's popularity.

As part of their expansive journey, Yoasobi is embarking on their inaugural overseas tour, titled "Yoasobi Asia Tour 2023-2024." The tour will kick off with the duo's appearance at festivals in Hong Kong and Taiwan on December 1 and 2, followed by solo concerts in Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and Taiwan throughout the end of January. This promising tour is poised to captivate audiences across Asia, solidifying Yoasobi's international presence and fortifying their musical legacy.
