The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) has announced the opening of submissions for the 12th cycle of its Arab Documentary Photography Program (ADPP), offering emerging photographers in the Arab region a comprehensive opportunity to develop their documentary photography skills. The program is being conducted in partnership with the Prince Claus Fund and Magnum Foundation, with additional support from the Norwegian Embassy to Lebanon and Syria.
The initiative specifically targets emerging photographers who are currently residing and working throughout the Arab region, providing them with resources and mentorship to advance their documentary photography practice. Selected participants will benefit from a multi-faceted support system designed to enhance both their technical skills and artistic vision in the field of visual storytelling.
Grantees selected for the program will receive three key components of support. First, they will participate in three intensive workshops that will be led by both regional and international photography experts, providing diverse perspectives and techniques. Second, participants will receive tailored one-on-one mentorship sessions, offering personalized guidance for their individual projects and career development. Finally, selected photographers will be awarded a production grant specifically designed to help them complete their documentary photography projects.
Since the Arab Documentary Photography Program was first established in 2014, it has demonstrated significant impact across the region by supporting more than 120 photographers. Over its eleven previous cycles, the program has successfully built a vibrant and interconnected community of visual storytellers who are actively working to shape and document narratives of the Arab region through their photographic work.
Interested photographers can find detailed application information and submission guidelines by visiting the official AFAC website. The deadline for all submissions is December 10, 2025, at 5:00 PM Beirut Time, giving applicants several weeks to prepare and submit their portfolio materials and project proposals.
