For the previous three years, Art Basel Hong Kong has been conducted online or on a smaller scale. Art Basel Hong Kong 2023 is predicted to be larger and better now that Hong Kong has relaxed its tight quarantine requirements.

It is likely to be the biggest one since 2019. There will be 177 galleries from 32 countries, which is more than the 130 galleries from last year.

Director for this year’s Art Basel, Siyang-Le said that the biggest difference with the next fair is that it wants to show that it is a strong international event that will lead the Asian art market. "Not only does it show the global trend in art, but up until now, Western galleries have usually led the art fair scene. This year, Asian-Pacific galleries will be present."

Western and Asian galleries used to take part in about equal numbers, but this year, Asian-Pacific galleries make up more than half of the total.

From Korea, Arario Gallery, Johyun Gallery, Hakgojae Gallery, Leeahn Gallery, PKM Gallery, Kukje Gallery, and Gallery Baton are seven galleries participating in the main booth of Art Basel in Hong Kong.
