The highly anticipated Woodstock festival, set to make its debut in Korea, has been postponed to October, according to an official announcement by SGC Entertainment, the festival's main organizer. Concerns over safety during the rainy season were cited as the primary reason for the delay. The company also expressed intentions to further enrich the festival lineup in light of the rescheduling, local media reports revealed.

"We have decided to postpone the festival to Oct. 7-9 in order to ensure the safety of our attendees and enhance the overall quality of the program," stated the company on the official website for the Korean edition of Woodstock.

Originally planned to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the Korean War armistice agreement, the Woodstock festival was scheduled to take place at the scenic Hantangang River Geopark complex in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province. Notably, this was the second attempt at hosting a Woodstock festival in Korea, following a failed effort in 2010 due to copyright and artist lineup issues.

In a recent development, a local media outlet reported concerns raised by the city of Pocheon regarding the festival's organizer. According to the report, the city expressed doubts about the organizer's credibility after being informed unilaterally about the postponement. The mayor suggested that alternative locations be sought if the organizer intended to proceed with the event.

When reached for comment about the potential venue and lineup changes, SGC Entertainment responded with a statement indicating ongoing internal discussions, refraining from providing specific details. "We are currently in the process of internal discussions, so we are unable to provide specific details," said an SGC Entertainment official. "But we will soon make an announcement for the ticket buyers."

The initial lineup for the Woodstock festival, announced on July 6, included an eclectic mix of international and Korean artists. Senegalese American rapper Akon, British pop band New Hope Club, singer-songwriter Henry Moodie, and J-pop band Luck Life were among the performers set to take the stage. Notable Korean musicians, such as punk band Crying Nut, rock band No Brain, renowned singers Jeon In-kwon, Taeyang, Sunmi, and rappers Tiger JK and Yoon Mi-rae, were also part of the announced lineup.
