In a highly anticipated event that marked their first offline concert in four years, boy band Teen Top delivered an exhilarating show on Saturday, igniting the stage with their signature charm and infectious energy. The concert, titled "2023 Teen Top we gonna rock it drop it top it hey don't stop it pop it LIVE," drew inspiration from the lyrics of their 2013 hit dance track, "Rocking." Held at the Nodeul Island Live House on the scenic Han River, the group's enthusiastic fans were treated to a night of celebration for Teen Top's 13th anniversary since their debut on July 10, alongside the release of their latest album, "4SHO," earlier this month.
As the crowd erupted with excitement, band member Ricky expressed their deep appreciation, exclaiming, "How have you all been? We've missed you so much!" The sentiments were echoed by Changjo, who conveyed his joy in seeing the audience in person once again, stating, "It's been such a long time since we saw your faces in person. I feel so happy. I have such a good feeling about today."
Teen Top's hiatus, unofficially initiated in 2020 due to members fulfilling their military duties, came to an end with their electrifying concert. The band regained prominence when popular entertainer Yu Jae-seok covered their song "To You" (2012) on an MBC entertainment show earlier this year, reigniting interest in their music. Since their debut in 2010, Teen Top garnered widespread popularity in the early to mid-2010s, though they faced setbacks with the departure of L.Joe in 2017 and C.A.P in May last year. Nevertheless, the remaining members — Niel, Chunji, Changjo, and Ricky — continue to captivate audiences with their infectious tunes.
The performance on Saturday featured a captivating selection of songs, including the lead track from their latest album, "Hweek," along with fan favorites such as "To You," "Crazy" (2012), "Miss Right" (2013), and "Rocking" (2013). While the concert encountered a brief hiccup due to technical difficulties with the microphones, the group seized the opportunity to display their prowess, transforming the mishap into a playful moment that showcased their live performance skills.
Ricky playfully remarked, "This just proves that we're not lip-syncing and that this is all live," as the band powered through an impressive 25-song setlist, entertaining the audience with a mix of music and heartfelt conversations. Sunday's performance will be livestreamed through the online video platform hellolive, ensuring that fans who were unable to attend the offline concert can also enjoy the experience.
Reflecting on their promotion period for the new album, Changjo expressed a tinge of sadness, stating, "We're sad that we only got a week to promote our album on television music shows this time." However, he also expressed optimism for the future, promising that the band will return with even better albums, giving fans something to eagerly anticipate.
Teen Top's triumphant return to the stage reaffirms their enduring popularity and highlights their unwavering commitment to delivering captivating performances.
