The City of Besançon has announced plans to reschedule a photography exhibition dedicated to the late Antoni Lallican, with the new dates set to begin Wednesday. The exhibition serves as a tribute to the photographer's significant contributions to documentary photography and his commitment to humanitarian values.

"Through his photographic work, Antoni Lallican fully embodied these ideals. His reports, marked by profound humanity, accurately and courageously documented contemporary realities," the City of Besançon emphasized in their statement. Lallican's work was recognized for its deep humanistic approach and fearless representation of modern social issues.

The photographer was associated with the Victor Hugo Prize for Engaged Photography, a prestigious award created jointly by the Victor Hugo House and the Grain d'Pixel association. This prize aims to support photography that carries the humanistic and universal values championed by Victor Hugo, including freedom of expression and press freedom, defense of human rights, dignity and justice, protection of children and women, and the fight against the death penalty, poverty, and oppression.

The exhibition will be open to the public again starting October 15, 2026, and will run for three months at the Victor Hugo House in Besançon. This rescheduling allows visitors to experience Lallican's powerful photographic legacy in a setting that reflects the humanitarian values his work represented.
