Seoul SayArt- In a resounding success at Frieze Seoul 2023, Pace Gallery, a renowned art institution, left an indelible mark on Asian audiences by featuring works of iconic artists, including the late Lawrence Weiner and celebrated Korean talent Lee Kun-Yong.
Pace Gallery Director Ruri Rhee shared her thoughts in an exclusive interview with Sayart on the closing day of the fair, stating, "We observed a noticeable increase in overseas attendees compared to the previous year. Our sales performance mirrored last year's success, and we are optimistic about the future. There is growing interest from international galleries in the Korean art scene, and our gallery's presence among Korean audiences has notably surged. We are committed to maintaining this momentum with an even greater sense of responsibility."
The culmination of the fair also saw Pace Gallery unveiling the sales results of Frieze Seoul 2023:
Lee Kun-Yong, the acclaimed Korean artist exclusive to Pace Gallery, saw his work 'Bodyscape 76-1-2021(2021)' fetch an impressive $140,000 USD (189,000,000 KRW), while 'Bodyscape 76-3-2023(2023)' commanded a notable $75,000 USD (101,000,000 KRW).
