Trot singer Lim Young-woong has donated 200 million won ($146,600) to the charity Community Chest of Korea under the name "Hero Generation" to commemorate Parents' Day, which falls on May 8 in Korea.
The donations will be directed towards supporting low-income and disadvantaged individuals, as per Lim's wishes, the charity announced on Wednesday.
Established in 1998, the Community Chest of Korea is a nonprofit welfare organization sanctioned by the Korean government.

Lim and his agency, Mulgogi Music, have been making annual donations to the charity since 2021 under the name Hero Generation. Cumulatively, they have contributed a total of 900 million won to the Community Chest of Korea. Notably, 100 million won was allocated for wildfire relief in Uljin County, North Gyeongsang, and Samcheok in Gangwon in 2022, while 200 million won was dedicated to nationwide downpour damage relief in July last year.
Lim, who debuted as a singer in 2016, rose to prominence after winning TV Chosun's trot audition program, "Mr. Trot," in 2020.
The singer is scheduled to hold two concerts titled "Im Hero – The Stadium" at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in Mapo District, western Seoul, on May 25 and 26. His latest single, "Warmth," was released on Monday.
