The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in the Philippines recently held its annual K-Culture Night, a special celebration honoring the organization's successful programs and remarkable milestones achieved throughout the year. The event served as a heartfelt tribute to KREW Members, the center's dedicated volunteers, as well as KCC teachers and staff members whose unwavering support has been instrumental in advancing the center's cultural initiatives.
During his opening remarks, KCC Director Kim Myeongjin expressed profound gratitude to everyone who contributed to the year's outstanding accomplishments. He proudly highlighted two particularly significant achievements that brought international recognition to the organization. The Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines earned the prestigious distinction of being named the Most Outstanding Korean Cultural Center worldwide, while also receiving special recognition from the Philippine Department of Tourism for its innovative TOPCOP (Tourism-Oriented Police for Community Order and Protection) Program. Director Kim emphasized that these remarkable achievements would not have been possible without the dedication of the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes, making every project and event come to life.
The celebration placed special focus on recognizing the valuable contributions of KREW Members, who have played pivotal roles in bringing Korean culture closer to Filipino audiences throughout the year. During the event, members enthusiastically shared their personal experiences participating in various cultural projects, including flagship programs such as KREW Says and KREW Tries. They spoke passionately about how these innovative platforms provided them with opportunities to develop their creativity, enhance their storytelling skills, and pursue their personal passions while simultaneously contributing to the KCC's expanding cultural presence in the Philippines.
Adding depth to the evening's reflections, UP Arirang, the prominent Hallyu organization from the University of the Philippines and an active partner in numerous KCC initiatives, also shared their inspiring journey in promoting Korean culture within their campus community. Their participation highlighted the strong collaborative relationships that have been fostered between Korean cultural institutions and local educational organizations.
The event featured a variety of engaging interactive activities designed to bring back cherished memories of KCC's events throughout 2025. Participants actively engaged in entertaining poster puzzle games, enjoyed traditional Korean games that provided cultural immersion, and took part in creative drawing challenges directly inspired by various aspects of Korean culture. These activities not only entertained attendees but also reinforced cultural learning and appreciation.
The evening's program showcased exceptional special performances that captivated the audience with authentic Korean artistry. The renowned Korean traditional dance team NARA delivered a dynamic and energetic nanta performance that had attendees on the edge of their seats. Additionally, the talented KCC Cultural Interns presented a deeply heartfelt rendition of "Wonderful Korea" (아름다운 나라), skillfully combining the powerful expressive elements of pansori (판소리) with the soft, melodic sounds of the gayageum (가야금), creating a mesmerizing musical experience.
This year's K-Culture Night served multiple important purposes beyond simply celebrating the year's accomplishments.
