In a vibrant display of South Korea's musical prowess and cultural exchange, SM Entertainment, the powerhouse behind K-pop sensations like aespa, Red Velvet, and NCT, brought Jakarta alive with the iconic hue of pink at the "SMTown Live 2023 SMCU Palace @Jakarta with KB Bank" concert. Held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Central Jakarta, Indonesia, the event marked a monumental return after 11 years, celebrating the long-standing diplomatic ties between South Korea and Indonesia.
The evening unfolded with a captivating showcase of 41 songs, spanning diverse flavors and genres, from the revered veterans to the burgeoning talents of the K-pop industry. Eight teams, each presenting their chart-toppers, mesmerized the audience. Noteworthy performances included TVXQ's "Mirotic," Super Junior's "Sorry Sorry," Red Velvet's "Red Flavor," NCT 127's "Kick It," NCT Dream's "Candy," WayV's "Kick Back," and aespa's "Next Level."
A standout moment of the night was a special collaboration between NCT's Taeyong, Jeno, Hendery, YangYang, and aespa's Giselle, enthralling the crowd with their joint rendition of "Zoo." The event also showcased the debut performance of SM Entertainment's newest addition, Riize, who debuted on Sept. 4, presenting their debut single "Get A Guitar."
As the night concluded, all the artists took the stage, joining hands for a light-themed performance that encapsulated the essence of SMTown Live. Since its inception in 2008, SMTown Live has made significant strides worldwide, pioneering large-scale K-pop concerts in various regions, including the first of its kind in Europe and at New York's Madison Square Garden, showcasing the global influence of K-pop's unmatched allure.
