Artist Karim Dabbèche is currently transforming a building facade in Munich's Westend district into a vibrant dreamworld through an oversized, colorful mural. The 36-year-old artist began his ambitious project on October 6th at the corner of Trappentreu and Kazmairstraße, creating what promises to be a spectacular addition to the neighborhood's artistic landscape.

The project began with a simple handwritten note. "I had been keeping an eye on this facade for quite some time," explains Dabbèche, who lives in the neighborhood and works professionally as a freelance designer, typically spending his days working on computers. Eventually, he left a brief message at the door of the residential building with his contact information and his proposal. "Shortly after, a tenant contacted me - he liked my idea and immediately informed the landlord," the artist recalls.

Once the landlord gave the green light and both the cultural affairs department and the local district committee came on board with funding support, Dabbèche was able to begin his work. The massive mural, measuring approximately 40 by 66 feet, depicts a surreal scene designed to inspire passersby to actively participate in shaping their future and society.

"The goal of this mural is to inspire pedestrians to actively participate in designing their future and their society," explains the creative artist. The artwork portrays a surreal scene where a person dives into and advances through their own dreamworlds, surrounded by fantastic creatures and dreamlike elements. According to Dabbèche, the scene symbolizes the influence of our dreams on our future and the self-confidence they give us along this journey.

This impressive project isn't Dabbèche's first large-scale mural. Two years ago, he collaborated with two other artists to paint an oversized rider on the facade of the Leonrodhaus at the entrance to the Creative Quarter, demonstrating his continued commitment to bringing public art to Munich's streets. The current work represents his ongoing effort to transform urban spaces into inspiring artistic experiences that engage the community and encourage civic participation.
