Excitement is brewing as the much-anticipated 2023 Korean Film Festival in Australia (KOFFIA) is all set to make its grand debut Down Under. Organized by the Korean Cultural Center in Sydney, an affiliate of the Culture Ministry, the festival will showcase an array of highly acclaimed Korean films, captivating audiences in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

The festival kicks off with a glittering opening ceremony at Event Cinema George Street in Sydney on August 24, featuring the mysterious thriller "The Night Owl." The film delves into the enigmatic death of Crown Prince Sohyeon during the Joseon era. Adding to the allure, Director An Tae-jin will grace the event and engage in a special question and answer session with the Australian moviegoers, providing an unparalleled opportunity to gain insights into the film's creation.

Another must-watch film gracing the Australian screens is "The Devil's Deal," a gripping crime noir that premiered in March. The plot is set in Busan in 1992 and revolves around the intricate conflict and alliance between a perpetually unsuccessful politician, an apolitical heavyweight, and a formidable gang boss. Director Lee Won-tae and the film's creators will also participate in a question and answer session, elevating the cinematic experience to new heights.

KOFFIA promises a captivating journey through Korean cinema, with screenings in Sydney from August 25 to 29, followed by Palace Electric Cinema in Canberra from September 1 to 3. The film festival will then make its way to ACMI in Fed Square, Melbourne, running from September 7 to 11, culminating with a four-day extravaganza at Elizabeth Picture Theatre, Brisbane, starting September 17.
