On March 14, Kim Sae Ron’s mother issued an official statement through the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute. She expressed her intent to correct the false reports that she claims ruined her daughter's reputation overnight and to hold malicious YouTubers and cyber-media accountable under the law.
"Sae Ron never lied to the press. She was not gambling instead of reflecting on her past mistakes, nor did she fabricate a part-time job story to gain sympathy. She was not someone who only indulged in nightlife, nor did she intentionally spread false dating rumors with edited photos," her mother stated. She also accused Lee Jin Ho and cyber-media outlets of fabricating stories that destroyed a promising actress’s career and pushed her and her family into despair.
She further criticized Gold Medalist, the agency representing actor Kim Soo Hyun, for mischaracterizing Kim Sae Ron when the late actress posted a cryptic photo. "They portrayed my daughter as a mentally unstable girl making false claims, when in reality, she had no one but her family," she said.
Kim’s mother went on to compare the widespread public criticism her daughter faced to a nationwide act of bullying, attributing it to the false reports initiated by Lee Jin Ho. She also dismissed claims that Kim Sae Ron was the sole financial provider for her family and that her relatives misused her wealth, calling them groundless fabrications.
"Even after Sae Ron’s passing, more lies continue to surface—claims that she was the breadwinner for her family, that her relatives squandered hundreds of billions of won, and other baseless and cruel rumors," she lamented.
She criticized the media, stating that journalists failed to fact-check or verify the claims before widely circulating false narratives, which ultimately led to her daughter being ostracized.
Regarding actor Kim Soo Hyun, who was recently linked to Kim Sae Ron, she clarified that her intention is not to expose personal details but to restore her daughter’s dignity. She emphasized that the ultimate goal is to ensure that similar incidents do not happen again and that legal measures are put in place to hold the media accountable for reckless reporting.
Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun issued an official statement on March 14, confirming that he dated Kim Sae Ron between 2019 and 2020 when she was an adult. However, he denied accusations that he had dated her when she was a minor or that he pressured her to repay the 7 billion KRW settlement from her DUI incident.
