South Korean singer and actor Yim Si-wan is set to launch his solo music career next month with the release of his debut extended play titled "The Reason." His talent agency SMArt announced on Friday that the highly anticipated album will hit stores and streaming platforms on December 5th.
The upcoming EP will showcase five diverse tracks that demonstrate different musical moods and styles, with the title track sharing the same name as the album. While SMArt has confirmed these basic details about the project, the agency has not yet revealed additional information about the album's specific musical direction, collaborators, or promotional plans.
Yim Si-wan first entered the entertainment industry as a member of the K-pop boy group ZE:A, making his debut with the band in January 2010. Since then, he has successfully transitioned into acting and established himself as a versatile performer across multiple entertainment mediums. His acting portfolio includes notable performances in critically acclaimed productions such as the 2013 legal drama film "The Attorney" and the beloved workplace drama series "Misaeng: Incomplete Life" in 2014.
More recently, Yim has gained international recognition for his role in Netflix's global phenomenon "Squid Game," appearing in both the upcoming second season set to release in 2024 and the already confirmed third season planned for 2025. This high-profile casting has significantly raised his international profile and introduced him to audiences worldwide.
According to statements from SMArt, "The Reason" will offer fans and music listeners an entirely new perspective on Yim Si-wan as an artist. The agency emphasized that the album will capture the performer's "previously unreleased musical tastes and delicate sensibility," promising to reveal a side of him that audiences have not experienced before as he steps into the spotlight as a solo recording artist.
