K-Pop Heats Up June with Star-Studded Girl Group Comebacks

Published June 2, 2025 03:24 AM

K-pop is set for a red-hot June as a wave of popular girl groups prepares to return to the spotlight. With bold concepts, fresh tracks, and passionate fanbases, these comebacks are expected to dominate the summer music scene during the industry’s busiest season.

June 9 Comeback Frenzy: Four Groups, One Day

Four girl groups will kick off the action with simultaneous comebacks on June 9.

Veteran act ITZY returns with their new mini album Girls Will Be Girls, their first release since October 2024’s Gold. The five-track album includes the title song "Kiss & Tell" and B-sides such as "Promise" and "Walk," marking a long-awaited comeback for MIDZYs worldwide.

Rising group Kiss of Life is also returning after an eight-month hiatus with their fourth mini album 224. The seven-track release features the lead single "Lips Hips Kiss," along with "Tell Me," "Painting," and "Heart of Gold" — the latter three featuring songwriting contributions from members Natty and Julie.

Rookie group IZNA will drop its second single BEEP, featuring both a Korean version and a Japanese-language rendition, expanding their global appeal.

Meanwhile, QWER, a band made up of former streamers-turned-idols, is releasing its third mini album, containing six new songs that continue to build the group’s unique identity in the idol band space.

Major Agencies Roll Out Heavyweights

Top K-pop labels are also joining the comeback wave. SM Entertainment confirmed that aespa is gearing up for a June release, following their successful fifth mini album Whiplash, which secured their spot as five-time million sellers. The exact date of aespa’s return remains under wraps.

HYBE Labels announced that girl group Iliit will drop their third mini album Bomb on June 16. The five-track album features the title song "Do the Dance" and other songs including "Little Monster," "Jellyous," "Oops!" and "Bamsopoong."

Across the Pacific, U.S.-based K-pop girl group KATSEYE is readying their second mini album BEAUTIFUL CHAOS, out June 27. The album includes five tracks, including the viral pre-release single "Gnarly," which recently charted at No. 92 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 90 on the U.K. Official Singles Chart. Other songs on the album include "Gabriela," "Gameboy," "Mean Girls," and "M.I.A."

Fresh Starts and Rising Stars

Reorganized as a five-member act, fromis_9 is making its first comeback under new agency ASND. Their June release will be a "summer-themed project" designed to showcase the group’s enduring charm. It marks their return following last December’s single "from," and their first release since leaving Pledis Entertainment.

Rookie group HITGS will jumpstart the month with a digital single titled GROSS on June 2, while ARTMS — the new group formed by former Loona members Jinsoul, Haseul, Kim Lip, Heejin, and Choerry — is scheduled to drop its new album Club Icarus on June 13.

With powerhouse comebacks lined up and fresh concepts taking center stage, K-pop’s June comeback season is shaping up to be one of the hottest yet.
