In a momentous step towards their official debut on October 11th, the eagerly awaited multinational boy band "Pow" has introduced itself to the world with their pre-debut single, "Favorite."
The quintet, consisting of members Jungbin, Yorch, Hong, Dongyeon, and Hyunbin, is poised to make its mark under the emerging local label, Grid. Their pre-debut single "Favorite" was unveiled recently, setting the stage for their forthcoming official debut.
At a press conference held in Seoul, the band expressed their excitement and nervousness about meeting their fans a month ahead of schedule. Hyunbin stated, "We'll grow and improve as we head toward our debut, so please look forward to our journey." Yorch, a Thai actor-singer, added, "We've waited long for this moment. We'll give our best shot."
As their name "Pow" suggests, the band aspires to infuse the K-pop scene with innovative and vibrant energy. Leader Jungbin elaborated, "Favorite," a pop-punk dance tune, encapsulates the band's youthful and spirited essence, with lyrics that candidly convey the emotions of a fluttering heart in love.
The music video for "Favorite" presents a unique concept known as "Europe Youth Culture," described by Hyunbin as a portrayal of "the dreamlike, beautiful energy of youth around our age." The visual aesthetics draw inspiration from the picturesque German countryside, further enhancing the song's appeal.
"Favorite" marks the commencement of the final countdown to Pow's official debut on October 11th. The group is gearing up to release an EP album that will explore various themes, from first love to the spirit of boyhood, according to Dongyeon.
Pow has generated significant buzz among global K-pop enthusiasts as the first boy group to emerge from the burgeoning label Grid. Notably, Grid is the parent company of 131 Label, which counts the famous K-pop singer-rapper B.I among its affiliates.
Adding intrigue to Pow's journey is the presence of Yorch, a Thai celebrity who underwent training under BTS' agency, Big Hit Music. Yorch had previously been part of the pre-debut team "Trainee A" under Big Hit Music but did not make the final debut with them.
Reflecting on his journey, Yorch candidly shared, "I felt lost and wanted to rest when I went back to Thailand. I felt discouraged and wanted to give up on becoming a K-pop artist." However, the opportunity with Grid, coupled with the warmth and camaraderie he found among the members and the company staff, rekindled his passion for pursuing his dreams in the world of K-pop.
The members of Pow emphasize that their strength lies in their unity. While each member possesses a unique style and identity, their collective synergy creates an entirely new and captivating musical experience.
Pow looks up to the renowned band Seventeen as their role model, inspired by Seventeen's powerful onstage energy and remarkable teamwork. Jungbin stated, "Seventeen shows a powerful energy onstage, driven by their teamwork. We also hope to become a group that could share bright and encouraging energy."
As "Pow" emerges on the K-pop scene, their vibrant music and promising talent have ignited excitement among fans, setting the stage for an exhilarating journey ahead.
