For the 22nd consecutive year, Bernstadt will host Saxony's largest amateur photography exhibition in January 2026, with organizers now calling for hobby photographers to submit their works. The annual showcase has experienced remarkable growth, with participation numbers increasing from 77 photographers in 2024 to 81 in 2025, suggesting the event could potentially reach the 100-participant milestone as early as 2026.

The exhibition's popularity extends beyond participants to visitors as well. The 2025 show attracted a record-breaking 1,204 guests, demonstrating the community's strong interest in amateur photography. This growing attendance reflects the exhibition's reputation as a premier platform for showcasing local photographic talent across the region.

Interested photographers can now begin submitting their entries for the upcoming exhibition, which will run from January 10-18, 2026, at the Bernstadt Town Hall. The submission deadline is December 20, 2025, giving participants ample time to prepare their best work. This year's theme is "This and That - Something from Everyone," encouraging diverse photographic interpretations and subjects.

Participants may submit up to two photographs each, with specific technical requirements that must be carefully followed. All images must be printed on paper with maximum dimensions of 20 by 30 centimeters (approximately 8 by 12 inches). Each photograph must include essential information on the back: the photographer's full name, complete address, image title, and preferably a telephone number for contact purposes.

Submissions can be dropped off at two convenient locations: the Bernstadt Town Hall on Bautzener Street, or at Manfred Richter's residence at Friedensring 10. Photographers who wish to have their works returned after the exhibition must include a stamped return envelope with their submission, ensuring the safe return of their photographs.

The exhibition will officially open with a vernissage on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 6:00 PM, providing an elegant launch for the showcase. Following the opening ceremony, the exhibition will be open to the public daily from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM through January 18. Weekend visitors will enjoy an additional treat, as coffee and cake will be served during weekend hours, creating a welcoming atmosphere for art appreciation and community gathering.
