The 13th Swedish Film Festival will commence on September 10 and will run until September 29, featuring screenings in Seoul, Busan, Incheon, and Daegu. This annual event is dedicated to presenting the latest Swedish films while highlighting the innovative spirit and reflective narratives of Swedish filmmakers.

The theme of this year’s festival will explore the concepts of “community” and “individual,” as stated by the event organizers. The festival will open at Arthouse Momo in Seoul on September 10, where it will continue until September 16. Subsequent screenings will be held at Cinematheque Busan from September 12 to 16, at Cinespace Juan in Incheon from September 12 to 15, and finally at CGV Daegu from September 26 to 29. Tickets for the festival are priced at 1,000 won.

The festival lineup includes nine films, with five of these titles making their Korean debut. The opening film, “Bullets,” directed by Peter Pontikis, is a thriller that presents the story of an immigrant family in Sweden from the perspective of a 12-year-old boy.

Other featured films include “The King” (2023), a documentary about Carl XVI Gustaf, the world’s youngest king; “Tigers” (2020), a sports drama about Swedish footballer Martin Bengtsson; and “Together 99” (2023), a comedy-drama exploring life in a 1970s commune and its evolution by 1999.

Additionally, “Run Uje Run” (2020), a biographical film about pop star Uje Brandelius and his battle with Parkinson’s disease, will be showcased. The festival will also present “Becoming Astrid” (2018), “King of Atlantis” (2019), “UFO Sweden” (2022), and the 2024 romance drama “Love Will Save Us.”

The festival will include four rounds of discussions with the audience, featuring directors Peter Pontikis and Patrik Blomberg Book. For more details, including film schedules and ticket information, visit the festival’s official website.
