- Nao Yim / Published December 4, 2023 01:34 AM
Korean contemporary artist Gun-woo Shin is an artist who has built his unique way of expressing himself at the border between sculpture and plane.
He has been implementing experimental sculptures through various media and methods, and he is receiving great attention in Korea's contemporary art world today.
His work reflects the narrative of the way and process of embodying and considering images in his work. He borrows symbols, signs, and repetitive narratives that appear in religion or mythology.
Recently, the artist has introduced the concept of '식(蝕): eclipse' as a means to express things that have no form but still exist. '식(蝕): eclipse' refers to the point where things with physical forms exist in reality and things that cannot be specifically embodied.
The artist is currently holding a solo exhibition at the Kimsechoong Museum of Art in Yongsan-gu, Seoul until the 23rd.
In the exhibition, about 18 artworks including new works will be displayed.
